تحتل صناعة الدواجن أهمية كبيره ليس في الاقتصاد العراقي فحسب وأنما في معظم أقتصاديات العالم لكونها توفر مادة غذائية أساسية للمواطنين لما فيها من بروتين في البيض ولحم الدجاج , وفي العراق تزداد أهميتها ففضلا عما ذكر حيث تشغيلها لعشرات الالاف من العاطلين عن العمل بحكم كون معظم مشاريع أنتاج الدواجن في العراق هي مشاريع صغيره ومنتشره في معظم محافظات العراق ، وأستخدام مخلفات الدواجن كسماد حيواني في الزراعة وأستخدام الريش في الصناعة وغير ذلك، فضلا على أن أستقرار وأنخفاض أسعار الدواجن تعد في غاية ألآهمية لأنها تؤدي الى أستقرار أسعار اللحوم الحمراء وتوجه المستهلك نحوها لكونها أرخص ثمنا وأفضل صحيا من اللحوم الحمراء وبالتالي حصوله على ماده غذائيه مهمه وبحدود دخله .
