أثارت الكاتبة الاقتصادية Mary Finn في مقالتها المنشورة في المجلة الفصلية الاقتصادية Economic quarterly في العام 1995 متسائلة هل ان الانتفاع العالي في استيعاب الطاقة المنتجة Absorptive capacity هو ذي ميول تضخمية ؟ ولابد من ان مثل هذا المعتقد في النظم الاقتصادية الصناعية المتقدمة يجد سبيله عبر المساواة بين المعدلات العالية للانتفاع من الطاقة المنتجة والظروف المحيطة بنقص الموارد Resource – shortage conditions مما يقود الى تضخم الاسعار. وبخلافهِ فأن الاقتصادات قد تستقر في نطاقات آمنة من التضخم عندما تكون درجة الانتفاع من الطاقة المنتجة بمستوى اقل. وبهذا امست الدراسات المتعلقة بالانتفاع الكامل من الطاقة المنتجة وعلاقتها بالتضخم مرتبطة بالتقلبات الحاصلة في الناتج المحلي الاجمالي والتضخم نفسه.
